Everything we do is always done so much better, after a good nights sleep.
At some points in our lives we all encounter phases of struggling to drift off to the land of nod.
Us humans need our sleep. Not only is it something we need to do to survive, lack of sleep contributes to low productivity, increased stress and has a detrimental effect on our overall wellbeing.
So I am going to put this out there.
Yes, yes I am old, but my night-time routine is my favourite part of the day.
Time alone to have a pamper, relax and wind down after a busy day.
That is my idea of heaven.
For many years I have took a range of Vitamin supplements and I am a huge fan.
When I stay consistent and don’t forget to take them (ooops) I see that my energy levels seem higher, and I am a little more alert, and rested.
*Benenox is described as an “Overnight Recharge” and whilst it is not a sleep aid as such, it claims to help you wake up feeling more energised.
It contains honey, sustamine and Vitamin B6 that helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue and helps energy production.
You are advised to take a 15ml capful before bed, you can either have it alone or in some water.
I am an avid herbal tea drinker so I really like the taste. It has a sweet taste with a hint of lemon and ginger.
I have been trialing for 2 weeks and take a capful just before I settle down of an evening.
I keep it by my toothbrush and toothpaste so I don’t forget!
One thing I have noticed since I have incorporated *Benenox into my evening routine is my sleep seems less disturbed, since I had my little boy I now wake up really easily throughout the night.
But over the past two weeks this has happened a lot less than usual.
There are a wide range of factors that help us get a rested nights sleep.
I personally don’t think taking vitamin supplements alone is the answer to the issue if you are struggling to get a good nights sleep.
But used alongside some of these tried and tested tips below, I feel you will be on your way to snoozy wonderland in a flash!
So here are some things that work really well for me.
Reading: Ditching my mobile phone is a must, all the scrolling and social media stalking over stimulates the mind, and can leave us feeling agitated and restless.
Curling up of an evening with a book is my favourite time to read.
Delving into a good book always helps me to wind down, switch off and relax.
Fresh Bedding, Pyjamas & Candles:
Setting the scene is a must, fresh bedding, a relaxing candle and soft comfy pyjamas.
BLISS!
In collaboration with Benenox and their #Iwenttobedlikethis campaign I was sent a pair of OYSHO pyjamas.
And ohhhhhh WOW!
The material is incredibly soft and lightweight and the pale pink pinstripe pattern is classy and timeless.
Diving into these PJ’s with a candle lit, new book, peppermint tea and fresh bedding.
Well that is me living my best life right there lady and gents.
Lavender Oil:
The Lavender plant is well known, and specifically linked to how relaxing its scent makes you feel. I drop a few (a lot) on my pillow, or into a bath and the scent really does help me to feel calm and relaxed.
I have tried many sleep sprays but I always go back to Lavender oil. You can pick up a bottle for as little as £1.50- £2 on eBay.

Pink Himalayan Bath Salts:
A couple of people recommended that I try pink Himalayan bath salts.
There are an array of health benefits that include: reducing cramp, increasing bone strength, supporting healthy respiratory function, naturally promoting healthy sleep patterns, and many more.
You are advised to pour half a cup full of the salts in your bath, and swoosh them about and stay in the tub for 20 minutes.
As soon as I have a bath with these, all I want to do is be carried to my bedroom and curl up in bed.
My whole body feels so relaxed and floppy.
They are available in Home Bargains, and cost around £3-£4.
I thoroughly recommend them.
Hands in the bucket if all you are thinking about is curling up in bed?
Because I do!
What are your tips for winding down of an evening and getting a good nights sleep and waking up fresh as a daisy?
I would love to know.
