A couple of my friends and family over the festive period commented on my skin, they said it looked really great.
I was super chuffed and this prompted me to have a nose through my stash, and pick out every single skincare product I couldn’t be without.
I then thought why not share them products here on the blog?
I started writing the post and realised there was far to much content for just one blog post, so I have decided to split the blog posts into different categories and do a “Skincare Favourites of 2018” series.
I have dry/dehydrated skin and it’s prone to hormonal breakouts around my chin, I have fine lines across my forehead and I suffer with redness around my t-zone.
I would say the biggest change to my skincare routine over the past 2-3 years is I have incorporated products that contain acids and retinol into my daily routine, and I started using a derma-roller.
So I thought I would kickstart my Skincare Favourites of 2018 post with:
The products that exfoliate and improve my skins appearance & texture!
(Side Note: I suppose this post could also fall into the anti-ageing category too, as each product featured today has also helped my skin to appear more youthful for example: softening frown lines).
Each product featured today has a percentage of gylcolic acid in.
Glycolic acid helps to effectively remove the first layer of dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of collagen.
It helps to reveal brighter and fresher skin. My skin has really improved since I started incorporating glycolic acid into my routine, and now I couldn’t be without the below products.
The products featured below have helped to reduce acne scarring around my cheeks and improve the overall texture and appearance of my skin.
A product that has been heavily featured on the blog, but one I couldn’t leave out of my 2018 favourites.
I have dry, dull skin and I use this tonic most mornings after I have washed and cleansed. I douse a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face. It feels refreshing, soothing and it sinks quickly into the skin leaving it feeling taught and smooth.
(Make-up always tends to go on so much more evenly too).
Enriched with 5% glycolic acid it lightly exfoliates the skin, by removing dead skin cells, in turn leaving skin appearing healthy, glowing and refreshed.
The fluid hydrates the skin, and the addition of Aloe Vera and Ginseng helps to soothe.
(You can buy 100ml for £10, if you want to sample it before you purchase the larger bottle).
These pads contain gycolic acid, but they also contain an array of other acids.
Brace yourself, this gets a little rambly.
So they contain salicylic acid that helps unclog pores, helping to combat blackheads and reduce blemishes.
They also contain lactic acid, that removes dead skin cells and toxins from the skin, for a smoother and a more even toned surface.
Finally a dose of hyaluronic acid that improves skin hydration, helping to keep skin feeling soft and plump.
I use one pad all over my face and neck each evening, after I have cleansed.
I have built up my tolerance to acids so can now use every day with ease, but I would advise you start using a couple of times a week, and build up your tolerance.
The pads are generously soaked with product, and leave the skin feeling refreshed, taught, smooth, soft and helps it to appear glowing and healthy.
(I tend to pick these up when they are on offer in Boots or Superdrug usually 3 for 2 or half-price).
I came across this product just after I had given birth. My once blemish free skin was a total mess.
I had a major breakout of hormonal cystic acne for around 6 months, and I tried a shed load of products to help.
This was the one that worked wonders.
Liquid Gold is a multi action formula that is enriched with silk proteins (helps to moisturise the skin) and liquorice extract (anti-aging and skin calming extract that reduces rosacea, eczema) and has 5% glycolic acid enriched within the formula.
As I stated earlier I initially bought this product to help with hormonal breakouts. It did help to reduce and calm my breakouts, but what I didn’t anticipate was how much of a good all rounder it was.
It is a resurfacing and firming treatment that that helps reduce sun damage, wrinkles, and pigmentation.
I use it around once a week, I douse a small cotton pad and wipe over my whole face. When you first use it, you may feel a slight tingle but as time progresses this passes.
It helps dry up any blemishes I may have and exfoliates the skin, helping it to appear smoother and overall a lot more youthful and healthy.
(The travel one featured today is around £10 for 50ml if you fancy trialing it before purchasing the the larger bottle 150ml).
So that’s a wrap!
I do use other toners and exfoliating pads throughout the year, but these are the ones I have used for many years now and my all time favourites.
So that is part one done and dusted, I hope you found it helpful.
Part two coming soon!
