Hello to you all, Happy New Year.
I wish you all the very best for 2019.
Over the Christmas break I had the pleasure of reviewing Red Dog Saloon.
Red Dog Saloon is an Old-School Austin BBQ restaurant, situated on the ever growing hip and ever vibrant Bold Street Liverpool.
The building used to be the the home to a number of nightclubs and bars over the years, but now the large area has been transformed into a cosy, spacious and inviting dining and bar area.
The aesthetics are rustic with a southern western vibe, there are a vast amount of tables and booths that are all roomy, helping to give an intimate and private dining experience.
On arrival we was quickly seated and our waiter talked us through the menu, and the specials on offer.
Me and my friend decided to give the Espresso Martini a whirl, she noticed that there was a range of cocktails on offer that cost a purse friendly – £5.
A pretty great price considering the average price of a cocktail usually ranges from £8-£10 in Liverpool City Centre.
I don’t much eat red meat so whilst the menu was vast with slow cooked ribs, wings, and smoked meats my eyes wandered to the Southern Chicken, veggie and salad options.
The manager did talk us through how the meats were prepared and served, and they sounded truly delicious.
Red Dog Saloon has a smoker on site and marinate only the best cuts of meat, and slow smoke or slow cook their meats.
Me and my friend opted for the Red Dog Tower Burger which included: Southern fried buttermilk chicken breast, American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, hash brown & shredded lettuce.
Served with fries. (Single £11.50 Double £14.50)
We also ordered a side of mac & cheese (£4.50) coleslaw (£3.50) and Pit beans (£3.50).
The burger was one of the best chicken burgers I have ever tasted. The butter milk batter was light and crispy, and the chicken was moist and tender.
The combination of crispy bacon, hash brown, cheese and lettuce was a match made in heaven.
I was so impressed with the flavour and spice of the pit beans that I had to ask for the recipe, I would head on back down to Red Dog Saloon for these beauties alone.
The was warming, comforting and had a kick of paprika and cajun spice.
Me and my friend devoured everything, each element was hot, fresh, tasty and full of flavour.
The ambience and mood of the restaurant was laid back, it was the perfect get away to retreat and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
We both said we would re-visit in a heartbeat, although I would like to see a couple more vegetarian options added to the main menu, and maybe a hearty gravy?
That being, said there are a number of vegetarian starters and sides to choose from, that could easy make a tasty main meal.
If you are in Liverpool City Centre I can highly recommend you visit Red Dog Saloon, they have a range of offers on through the week and weekends. That include Whole Hog Sunday’s and unlimited Southern Fried Chicken on Wednesday’s.
