The past couple of months, the area around my eye has started to appear dull, dark and hollow.
A mixture of age and early mornings i feel is most definitely the cause.
I have always used an eye-cream, but nothing incredibly potent. I opted for drug store eye creams, or used any samples i would get when i ordered from Clarins.
The appearance of the area around my eyes, well it started to really get me down.
So off i trotted to Debenhams with a voucher that Santa got me, and treated myself to the new Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix.
The beauty consultant on the Debenhams counter was really helpful. She listened to my concerns and talked me through all the eye products they had on offer. She said the Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix was pretty new, and her favourite eye product.
Priced at £49, the product claims to magnify the beauty of your eyes. The skin strengthening formula has an innovative 360° Matrix Technology that provides a 360° cushion of plumping support to give eyes a fresh, “wide-open” look.
Packed with a concentrated infusion of Hyaluronic acid, she stated that it leaves the eye area incredibly hydrated and supple. It also claims to strengthen the delicate skin around the eyes and reduce lines, puffiness and dark circles.
My thoughts:
With any skincare product, i never expect miracles. A whole range of factors contribute to skin issues and conditions. From diet, lack of water, age or hormonal and environmental factors.
But i do feel that good quality skincare packed with potent and specific ingredients, can help.
I have been using the Eye Concentrate for 23 days now. I use it solely of an evening, as is this is when cell production doubles, and the skin repairs itself.
The serum is lightweight and feels incredibly hydrating, cooling, soothing and creamy on the skin. It sits under the eye area, and personally i find it takes around 10 minutes to fully absorb. (Another reason why i just use it of an evening.)
Instantly the eye area does look more hydrated and brighter.
As you can see above there is a long plastic applicator attached to the lid.
I was advised to swipe under the eye, and then up and around the crows feet area, and then over the eyelid.
This unique way of applying an eye product is all new to me, usually we are advised to apply to the orbital bone and the crows feet area.
I was told by applying it this way (over the lid too) that it creates a 360° cushioning effect that helps protect the eye from micro movements, which apparently occur around the whole eye area 10,000 times a day.
When i first used the product i instantly didn’t like the applicator, a lot of the product ended up not just on my orbital bone, but on my lower cheeks.
Such a waste of product and priced at £49, this “recommended” way of applying the product was ditched pretty quickly.
I now swipe up the plastic applicator with my fingers, and apply with my fingers.
I feel a pump would be much more hygienic and efficient.
So after 3 weeks, what do I think?
I must say I never realised how dehydrated my under eye area was.
A week in I could see a huge difference, my under eye concealer now appears even and smooth.
My concealer used to sit in fine lines under the eye area, and feel very drying and uncomfortable as the day progressed. It would also appeared patchy and bumpy, as the concealer was sitting on small dry patches around the eye area.
I must say the eye area does appear more awake, and it’s without a doubt a lot more hydrated.
In turn the area looks brighter and smoother.
I can see an improvement, and i have now become less self conscious about the appearance of my eyes as the condition does seemed to have improved.
All in all i impressed, as i stated earlier don’t expect miracles from any skincare product, but this has really impressed me.
What is your favourite eye-cream? I would love to know.
