I never buy skincare that A) I haven’t done any research about (or) B) Hasn’t been recommended.
When Gemma over at Gemma Etc told me I “needed” to try the Superdrug Optimum Skin Illuminating Glycolic Overnight Peel i ran and picked it up. Well i thought i did, i put this in my basket by mistake, and never realised until i got home, haha.
I have been using the Optimum PhytoGlyc-Age Day Cream now for around 2 months. It is one of the best day creams I have ever tried, and here is why.
This cream claims to defend the skin against the effects of glycation. Glycation is a process where our body breaks down the sugar molecules in our system. Glycation damages our skin, it reduces its elasticity and collagen.
The sugar we consume, well it attaches to proteins that form advanced glycation end products. So basically, in turn, it leaves the skin appearing less supple, wrinkles are enhanced, and the skin appears less radiant.
I don’t eat much sugar, i am much more a sandwich and crisps type of gal, so i wouldn’t have normally picked up a day cream specified for this issue.
(But seems it did jump in my basket by mistake, i decided to try it out).
The cream has a light fresh scent. It feels nourishing, lightweight and soothing when first applied to the skin.
The cream sinks quickly into my skin, and my skin initially feels incredibly soft and supple.
After using it for a month or so, I immediately associated this day cream to be on par with some of the high-end moisturisers in my stash.
Over time I have noticed that my skin appears luminous, fine lines around my forehead have drastically reduced and in turn my complexion appears younger and radiant. This cream has 100% improved my overall complexion. No doubt about it.
I also have been using it immediately after I have had a facial peel, again it feels soothing, cooling and hydrating. With this in mind, i feel it would be particularly perfect for people who have sensitive skin.
Doing a little research online i found that the Optimum range at Superdrug has been highly recommended, and has featured in a number of newspapers and editorials.
I was previously using Clarins Multi Active Jour Day Cream Gel (RRP £42), and in a nut-shell it isn’t a patch on this.
Priced at a bargain £12.99, i highly recommend you pick it up.
